Do I Qualify to Get Paid as a Family Caregiver in Georgia?
Freedom Adult Care has two ways to pay a family member for care: Structured Family Care, for families who live together and give care full time, and our Family Hire program, for family members who keep a job or don’t live in the same home.

Your Loved One (Both Programs)
✓Lives in Georgia, age 18 or older
✓Has Georgia Medicaid and is on (or eligible for) the CCSP or SOURCE waiver
✓Needs daily help with things like bathing, dressing, getting around, meals, or medication reminders
✓Wants to stay at home instead of moving to a nursing facility
You, the Caregiver
✓Structured Family Care: a family member by blood or marriage (adult child, grandchild, sibling, niece, nephew, in-law)
✓Family Hire: a family member, or a close friend or neighbor who completes our paid caregiver training
✓Age 18 or older
✓Able to pass a background check
❌Not your loved one’s spouse or legal guardian (either program)

Common Questions
Do I have to be a licensed caregiver?
No. Both programs are built for family members, not professional nurses or aides. No license or prior experience is needed.
Can I get paid to care for my parent?
Yes. Adult children caring for a parent are the most common setup in both programs.
Can a spouse be the paid caregiver?
No. Spouses and legal guardians can’t be paid caregivers in either program. Other family relationships can.
I live with my mom but I also work. Which one is for me?
Family Hire. Structured Family Care requires you to be home full time without another job.
What if my loved one doesn’t have Medicaid yet?
Medicaid has to be in place before either program can start. Call us and we’ll help you understand the steps and timeline.
