Freedom Adult Care’s Family Hire Program

Get Paid to Care for Your Family Member, and Keep Your Job

If your mom, dad, or another relative needs help at home, Freedom Adult Care may be able to hire you as their paid aide. It’s called our Family Hire program. You’re paid by the hour for the care hours Medicaid approves, so you can still keep your job.

How Family Hire Works

  1. Your loved one has Georgia Medicaid and is on the CCSP or SOURCE waiver. Their care plan sets how many hours of help they get at home.
  2. Freedom Adult Care hires you as their aide.
  3. You help them at home during those hours, and we pay you by the hour.
  4. We handle the paperwork and stay in touch with their case manager.

Family Hire is our version of PSS, the Georgia Medicaid service called Personal Support Services.

What You’d Help With

Everyday things at home: bathing, dressing, getting around the house, meals, and light housekeeping.

Questions Families Ask

How much does it pay?

You’re paid by the hour. What you earn depends on how many hours Medicaid approves for your loved one. We’ll tell you your rate before you start.

How many hours will I get?

That comes from your loved one’s assessment and care plan, not from us. We’ll tell you what’s approved.

I already live with my mom. Can I still do Family Hire?

Yes, if you also work another job or can’t be with her full time. If you’re home with her full time, ask us about Structured Family Care instead.

Can my husband or wife be my paid aide?

No. Spouses and legal guardians can’t be the paid aide, just like in Structured Family Care.

My loved one isn’t on Medicaid yet. Can you help?

Call us. We’ll walk you through what’s needed.

I work full time. Can I still do this?

Yes. Family Hire is hourly, so you can work the approved hours around your job. Read more about getting paid while you work full time.
